This Privacy Policy describes how LicensedGunStoresNearMe.com ("LicensedGunStoresNearMe", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information when you visit our website, submit a service request, claim or list a business, or otherwise interact with our services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
LicensedGunStoresNearMe.com is a directory and lead-referral platform that connects customers and property managers with gun store, firearms services, firearms, NFA items, ammunition, and adjacent environmental-services professionals across the United States. We do not perform services, testing, or gunsmithing ourselves; we operate a directory and forward customer inquiries to the professionals best positioned to help.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Service request information: name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, city, state, property type, urgency level, preferred contact method, and the free-text description of your situation that you submit through any "Find a Dealer" form on the site.
- Account information: when you create a customer or business account, your email address, password (stored only as a hashed digest), display name, and chosen role.
- Business listing information: when a contractor claims or self-creates a listing, the company name, address, phone, email, website, social handles, photos, services offered, license numbers, certifications, service-area cities and ZIPs, and any other content the contractor chooses to publish.
- Verification documents: license certificates, insurance certificates, EIN/W-9 information, and similar documents submitted to verify a business listing. These are stored access-controlled and never published to the public site.
- Communications: any message you send us through contact forms, email, or claim/dispute forms.
- Payment information: when you upgrade to a paid plan, the payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. We never see, store, or receive your full card number; we only receive a tokenized customer/subscription identifier and the redacted last-four/brand metadata Stripe returns.
2.2 Information we collect automatically
- Usage data: pages viewed, links clicked, referring URL, approximate time spent, and search queries within the Service.
- Device & browser data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen size, and language preference.
- Cookies & similar technologies: session cookies for authentication, preference cookies for UI state, and analytics cookies set by Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Analytics for aggregate usage measurement.
- Tracking parameters: UTM source/medium/campaign and referrer captured from URL parameters when you arrive at the site, used to attribute lead origin.
2.3 Information from public registries
Business profiles for unclaimed listings are seeded from public professional registries -- ATF FFL, NRA, NSSF Lead-Safe, and state/municipal license boards. We document every source on our Data Sources page. We never use scraped review sites, paid lead lists, or any source that requires payment, login, or violates the source's publication terms.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Match customer inquirys with the most relevant gun stores and firearms dealers serving your specific city, ZIP, and service category.
- Send transactional emails -- request confirmations, claim approval notices, account verification, password resets, and lead notifications -- through Resend (resend.com). All transactional email flows through this provider.
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service -- bug fixing, feature development, anti-fraud, performance monitoring.
- Verify and moderate business claims and listings, including reviewing license credentials and verification documents.
- Bill and collect subscription fees for paid ("Preferred Vendor") listings, via Stripe.
- Send marketing communications only if you have explicitly opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any marketing email.
- Comply with law, enforce our Terms of Service, investigate suspected fraud or abuse, and protect the rights, property, and safety of LicensedGunStoresNearMe, our users, or the public.
4. How we share information
We share information in the following circumstances and no others:
- With matched professionals: when you submit an customer inquiry, your name, contact details, ZIP, service requested, and inquiry text are forwarded to the small set of contractors (typically 1-8) we route to, so they can respond to your inquiry. You consent to this transfer when you submit the form -- the consent checkbox is required.
- With service providers who process data on our behalf under written contract: Supabase (database hosting), Vercel (web hosting and CDN), Resend (email delivery), Stripe (payment processing), Google Analytics (anonymized usage analytics).
- For legal reasons: to comply with subpoenas, court orders, or legal process; to enforce our Terms; to defend our rights; or to protect the safety of any person.
- In connection with a business transfer: if we are acquired, merged, or undergo a corporate restructuring, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity, subject to the same protections in this Policy.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent, license, or trade customer inquiries to third-party data brokers.
5. Lead-routing transparency
When you submit an customer inquiry, our matching engine selects contractors based on (a) geographic proximity to your ZIP/city, (b) service-area coverage they have declared, (c) the service category you selected, and (d) listing tier (Preferred Vendor > Claimed > Unclaimed). We typically forward each request to no more than 8 contractors. If we cannot find any in-radius match, we will fall back to in-state Preferred Vendors (max 4) so your request is never dropped.
For unclaimed listings (where the business has not yet registered an account), we send a separate "lead notification" email that explains the contractor's listing has not been claimed and gives them a one-click path to claim it. The contractor receives the same customer contact information either way.
6. Cookies and tracking
We use the following categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary: session cookies set by Supabase Auth to keep you signed in to your account. These cannot be disabled while using authenticated features.
- Functional: cookies that remember UI preferences (e.g. dismissed banners).
- Analytics: Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID
G-3TS8ERYKCY) and Vercel Analytics, used to measure aggregate page-view counts, time-on-page, and acquisition channels. These services do not receive your name, email, or phone number.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the site.
7. Data retention
- Service requests: kept for 24 months to support follow-up routing and audit-trail.
- Account records: kept for as long as the account is active; deleted within 60 days of account deletion request.
- Email logs (subject, recipient, status): kept for 12 months for deliverability investigations.
- Payment records: retained as required by applicable tax and accounting law (typically 7 years).
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information. We honor the following requests for all users regardless of jurisdiction:

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Third-party links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites (e.g. license registry homepages, contractor websites). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Review their policies before providing any information.
